Clark C. Gibson

Professor of Political Science/ Director of International Studies

Clark Gibson is Professor of Political Science, Director of the International Studies Program, and co-director of the Center for African Political Economy at UC San Diego. He studies the politics of democracy and development, especially topics that concern foreign aid, elections, political accountability, political institutions, and the environment. While most of his research focuses on Africa, he has also explored these topics in Central and South America, Asia, and the United States. Professor Gibson has written or edited six books and written dozens of articles and chapters.
