Department of Political Science Advising Hours

UNDERGRADUATE ADVISING

Visit our undergraduate advising webpage for detailed information on courses, enrollment, academic planning, degree requirements, and more.

Advising Options: 

  1. Primary Option: Online advising is available Monday through Friday via the Virtual Advising Center (VAC). Please submit any questions and inquiries through the VAC. Questions will be answered within 1-3 business days. For urgent questions, you may stop by during drop-in advising hours.
  2. Secondary Option: Drop-in advising
    1. In-Person: 
      1. Fall, Winter, and Spring
        1. Mondays & Tuesdays: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM in SSB 302
          1. Visit us on the third floor of the Social Sciences Building, which is the grey building right next to the RIMAC gym. Once you arrive in the lobby, please scan the QR code to check in. Once it is your turn, we will come out to greet you.

      2. Summer
        1. Mondays & Tuesdays: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM via Zoom
    2. Online:
      1. Wednesdays: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM via Zoom year-round.
        1. To join virtual drop-in advising sessions during available hours, please log in via VAC Remote Advising vac.ucsd.edu
        2. The online sign-in portal typically opens exactly at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays,
          1. If you log in before 9:30 a.m. it will ask you to wait until 9:30 a.m. to sign in. You may sign in anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
        3. When it’s your turn, a Zoom link will appear in the same window where you signed in.

The Department does not provide academic advising over the telephone or e-mail. If you are not yet a student at UCSD, please send an e-mail to askpolisci@ucsd.edu. Current students who e-mail or call with advising questions will be directed to the VAC or drop-in advising hours.
