Primary Advising Option: 

Virtual Advising Center (VAC)

• Online advising is available Monday through Friday
  • Please submit any questions and inquiries through the Virtual Advising Center (VAC).
  • Questions will be answered within 1-3 business days.
  • For urgent questions, you may stop by during drop-in advising hours.
  • The Department does not provide academic advising over the telephone or e-mail. Current students who e-mail or call with advising questions will be directed to the VAC or drop-in advising hours.

Secondary Advising Option: 

Drop-in advising

1. Fall, Winter, and Spring

   1. Notice: All drop-in advising sessions next week will be held via Zoom:

      • Monday (5/4/26): 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m.
      • Thursday (5/7/26): 9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
   2. Mondays & Tuesdays: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM in SSB 306
      
      1. Visit us on the third floor of the Social Sciences Building, the gray building next to the RIMAC gym. When you arrive, please enter through the front door into our lobby and scan the QR code at the front desk to check in. Once it is your turn, we will come out to greet you.

      2. Please note that the cut-off for in-person drop-in advising is 3:15 p.m. To ensure that I am able to meet with all students already waiting in the lobby, students who arrive and check in after 3:15 p.m. will be asked to submit their questions through the VAC or return during drop-in advising on another day.

   3. Wednesdays: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM via Zoom
      1. To join virtual drop-in advising sessions between 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM, please log in via VAC Remote Advising vac.ucsd.edu
      2. The online sign-in portal typically opens exactly at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays
         1. If you log in before 9:30 a.m. it will ask you to wait until 9:30 a.m. to sign in. You may sign in anytime between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
      3. When it’s your turn, a Zoom link will appear in the same window where you signed in.

2. Summer

   1. Mondays & Tuesdays: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM via Zoom
   2. Wednesdays: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM via Zoom
