Senior Honors Program & Pi Sigma Alpha

Students majoring in one of the eight Political Science majors have opportunities to chellege themselves academically and stand out among their peers by taking part in the Department's Senior Honors Program and/or becming a member of UCSD's chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. 

Senior Honors Program

To receive departmental honors, students are required to complete the Political Science 191A-B Senior Honors Seminar: Frontiers in Political Science courses and submit a completed senior thesis by the first day of the Spring quarter; to graduate with honors in political science, a student must have received an average point score of 3.6 or higher on the honors thesis and maintained a GPA of 3.6 or above in the major through the end of the second quarter of the honors seminar.

Pi Sigma Alpha

The UCSD chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha recognizes majors in political science who have demonstrated superior scholarship. The chapter seeks to provide its members with access to professionals in the field of political science and to the faculty at UCSD as well as opportunities to interact with fellow honors students in the major. Due to the reputation of Pi Sigma Alpha as a respected honor society within the field of Political Science, the members of the Psi Omega Chapter have established a high standard of academic achievement within the Political Science major as a prerequisite for membership.
