Gleditsch joined the faculty Fall Quarter, 2001. His general research interests include conflict and cooperation, international aspects of democratization and political change, applied statistics, and mathematical models. Gleditsch's current research focuses on local interaction and regional differentiation in conflict, peace, and democratization. Recent publications include: "Peace and War in Time and Space: The Role of Democratization," in International Studies Quarterly; "Democratizing for Peace," American Political Science Review. His book, All International Politics is Local: The Diffusion of Conflict, Integration, and Democratization, is forthcoming from University of Michigan Press. Gleditsch was awarded the Rudolf Wildenmann prize in 2001, APSA's Helen Dwight Reid award in 2000, and the 2002 Warren Miller prize for best article in Political Analysis.
