Political Economy, Comparative Politics


Comisso's main field of interest is comparative politics and political economy, specializing in European politics and particularly, in Eastern European affairs. Her publications include two books, one dealing with the economics and politics of self-management in Titoist Yugoslavia, Worker's Control Under Plan and Market (1979), and the other analyzing economic strategy in socialist states (with Laura Tyson), Power, Purpose and Collective Choice (1986). In addition, she has published articles in such journals as International Organization, World Politics, East European Politics and Societies, and several edited volumes. Her current research focuses on the legal, political, and economic issues raised by restitution claims in post-socialist Eastern Europe. Dr. Comisso has also served on the Board of Trustees of the National Council for Soviet and East European Research, the executive committee of the Council for European Studies, the ACLS/SSRC Joint Committee on Eastern Europe, and other professional bodies.
