Assistant Professor of Political Science (Formal Theory / Political Economy)

The Department of Political Science within the Division of Social Sciences at the University of California, San Diego (http://polisci.ucsd.edu) invites applications in Formal Theory / Political Economy for appointment at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2019. The applicant should demonstrate advanced skills in analytical reasoning and formal modeling (including but not limited to game theory), as well as a strong applied focus in at least one subfield. The successful candidate will be able to convey their insights to an audience that does not necessarily have extensive formal training but that is interested in the ideas as applied to a well-defined substantive problem. Successful candidates should hold a PhD by start date of appointment.
